Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much do you sell your pet kittens for? Our sale price is $600 for pet kittens.

2. Where are we located? We live just outside Pensacola, Florida.

3. Is the kitten spayed or neutered? Yes, we spay/neuter all kittens and retired adults before placement.

4. How can I hold a kitten for purchase until it is ready to go? We ask for a $50 deposit to hold the kitten.

5. Do you sell by contract? Yes, we do sell by contract which mainly addresses keeping the animal indoors only and that it be properly cared for.

6. How old are the kittens when placed in pet homes? Usually around of 4 months of age.

7. What is your policy on shipping? We prefer to have you pick up the kitten or meet us at a show. Should air shipment become necessary the buyer pays all costs associated with the shipment.

8. What colors do you breed? We breed ruddy Abyssinians but sometimes have reds as well.

9. Are the kittens registered? Yes, our kittens are registered with CFA, the largest registry of pedigree cats in the world.

10. Do you sell cats for breeding? We normally do not sell cats for breeding to inexperienced breeders. We encourage individuals interested in breeding Abyssinians to get a spayed/neutered Aby and show it in Premiership Class. This allows the prospective breeder an opportunity to meet other breeders and learn about the breed.

11. Which make the best pets male or female Abyssinians? Overall neutered males make wonderful pets. They tend to bond with everyone in the household. Spayed females also make good pets but tend to be more territorial and usually bond with one person in the household.

12. Do Abyssinians shed? Yes, all cats shed hair. Because Abyssinians are shorthaired cats the shedding tends to be less noticeable.

13. Are Abyssinians good pets for kids? Due to the high activity level of the Abys we recommend that children in the household where the new cat lives be over age 6.

14. What is the Aby's activity level? Abys are a very active breed of cat. They can make a mess in a hurry! We recommend that people getting one of our cats child proof their house as they would for a two year old, only think in terms of a six foot tall (these cats can really jump) two year old!

15. How long do Abyssinians live? Abys on average live to 12-14 years. There have been cases of these cats living to be 20 years old.

16. Do Abys get along well with other cats?  Abyssinians do well in small groups of not more than 3 cats. In households with more cats, Abys do not always receive the amount of attention they require and can become depressed.

17. What forms of payment are acceptable? A check is acceptable as a deposit, but due to banking restrictions we request balances be paid in cash.

18. What is the best way to contact Stringapurrs Abyssinians? The best way to contact us (because we have very busy schedules) is by email: DanG@erec.net
